Alfonso Chen

Alfonso is a litigation associate passionate on firmly protecting his clients’ legal interests in civil and criminal matters and removing frustrations that his clients experience when dealing with legal cases.

Prior to becoming a lawyer, Alfonso completed his articles, which is the internship required of prospective lawyers to become lawyers, at Henderson & Lee. In 2014, he graduated with High Distinction from two Bachelor of Commerce programs, in Finance & Economics and in Management, from the University of Toronto (Rotman School of Management). In 2018, he obtained his Juris Doctor from the University of British Columbia (Allard School of Law), where he focused his studies on litigation and was awarded the Lawson Lundell LLP Entrance Scholarship. He first began working on legal files in 2015 as a student clinician at a legal clinic in Vancouver. Alfonso works hard to successfully fight for clients’ legal interests and rights, whether in the Supreme Court of British Columbia and the Provincial Court of British Columbia or outside of court processes.

Alfonso is fluent in Mandarin and English. He also holds a DELF B1 certification in French.

Alfonso enjoys spending time with others to engage in meaningful work for the community. He is a committee member of the Small Grants Committee of the Oak Avenue Neighborhood Hub Society, a broad-based admissions essay reader for the University of British Columbia admissions team, an ambassador of the Museum of Surrey, and a volunteer for special fundraising events for the MS Society of Canada, the Arthritis Society, and other non-profit organizations.
