Liyan Wu completed her Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology and anthropology at the University of Prince Edward Island, and subsequently obtained her Master of Arts degree in Asia Pacific Policies Studies from the University of British Columbia after completing her internships for a United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) transboundary water project and at Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Secretariat in Singapore.
Liyan became a member of the Alberta Law Society in 2017 after receiving her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Calgary Faculty of Law and articling at a local law firm in Calgary. Liyan was called to the British Columbia Bar in 2018. She currently practises corporate, commercial, real estate, wills and estates and family law, and serves as a volunteer lawyer at Pro Bono legal clinics.
Liyan was born and raised in Chengdu, China and is proficient in oral and written Mandarin Chinese. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, running, baking and spending time with her family.
